Resources for Good Friday

Dear Redeeming Grace,

In his book "The Cross of Christ", preacher and theologian John Stott makes this statement:

“It was by his death that he wished above all else to be remembered. There is then, it is safe to say, no Christianity without the cross. If the cross is not central to our religion, ours is not the religion of Jesus.” (John Stott, The Cross of Christ)

Indeed without the cross, where Jesus willingly laid down his life, we would have no forgiveness. We would still be dead in our sins and separate from God. How sweet then are these words:

"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved--" (Eph. 2:4-5 ESV)

This mercy, love and grace we have experienced in Christ comes to us because of the cross. And so on this day we want to remember Jesus by his death that we might be freshly humbled and grateful.

In lieu of being able to meet together this evening to reflect on Good Friday, we are providing you with some various resources we believe will serve you as an individual or a family. Please consider using the following resources:

SCRIPTURE - 7 Passages to Read on Good Friday
ARTICLE - Why We Call the Worst Friday Good
THIS PLAYLIST contains songs that you can listen to or sing along with throughout the day in worship and reflection.

We want to remember Jesus and his work on the cross soberly on this day, with grateful hearts, for undeserved grace. And what a joy it will be to gather at Liberty Elementary this Sunday to celebrate that Jesus rose, and is alive, and will return.

Can't wait to see you on Sunday!
